Final Project

So far I have 2 major options to focus on for my final project.

1- to look at my experience on Facebook and perhaps compare it to a few of my friends' usage of it. So it would be mostly on my own identity on there, but with a little bit of comparison to friends who use it differently than I do and why.

2- The other option is to focus more on Warcraft and my identities on there. This would be rather interesting since I've started a new character, with a new guild.. or I'm going to be transferring my level 80 character to another server (which would mean starting her with a new group).

I haven't had a lot of time to spend looking at the requirements and the whole project explanation to figure something more concrete, but these are my early ideas to figure out and sort through.

  1. I would go with the Warcraft identities. Even if you have several, there are probably a lot of ideals that they have in common. For example, do you have a good guy and a bad guy, but the bad guy ain't really so bad?

  2. Whatever online technologies could you use and apply this identity. I don't understand Warcraft to much but could you take this same identity and apply to other online game applications and discuss or see what happens and how others respond base on the different games. Just my thoughts.

  3. Gah! I didn't even think about the MMO possibilities. That could work nicely. Good thinking.

  4. I agree with Mike's comment about taking a WoW identity and applying it elsewhere. Then again, the application need not necessarily be to other online games (as I know Facebook has/had some WoW applications). You could also be even more specific in terms of your WoW identity. The dominant one involved there is that of "gamer," yes, but how you play the game could be more revealing of your identity as "student," or "leader," or something else. Does this make sense?

  5. I like the idea of taking the identity you created and using it in other online technologies. What about using this identity in Goodreads. What would your character recommend to others to read. This sounds like this could be fun.

  6. I wonder if you could find a way to draw parallel comparisions between the two: are there any similarities between your Facebook and World of Warcraft digital identities?
